FireSim online pilot study

Purpose. This study compares ways of practising decisions in a simulated building evacuation. It is a research prototype, not a test of your ability to survive a real fire.

What you will do. After entering your Prolific ID, you will be assigned to interactive training with Copilot prompts, the same interactive training without prompts, or a short, automatically played pilot training video. Everyone then completes a common first-person computer evacuation task in a virtual building. The time needed varies with your progress.

Privacy and choice. Research records are anonymized and stored on the study server and accessible to the authorised research team. Results may be reported without identifying individual participants.

Completion and compensation. A completion code will be shown after your common test ends and its record is saved, whether or not you find the exit. Enter that code on Prolific to obtain your compensation. Your compensation is fixed: 4 USD.
